What a mess in here...

some regular points...

1) I thought this was a suggestion forum.

2) if he doesn't like aspects of the game, then he doesn't, everyone has opinions.

3) if you reply, don't flame that's a waste of time instead just give your own opinion in a proper way.

4) About that AIM chatlog:
if he actually did say that to you, then he obviously has an anger management problem which is personal.. thus not it would settle with a PM to him about it.
if he didn't say it and you made it up, then you're just flaming and spamming up this topic which is just against the forum rules and worth a ban.

5) this should be locked

as for me:

the community isn't always as good there are so called newbies and noobs out there indeed, live with it, about 85-90% of the time I'm in a PUG they're nice and try to party properly, not everyone is as good as games as other people deal with it.

Monks are needed as a seperate class, as said by others before, every profession has his advantages/disadvantages.
Monks are indeed needed in a party later on, but you need other professions aswel, although a full monk party would be pretty good, it would most likely not win to a well balanced properly played party.

Grinding, I find this game to level quickly compared to other games.. not quickly in comparison to the level but in comparison to the max level.
I don't even look.. at my level to be honest, I've been PvP-ing as lvl 16 with lvl 20 players which worked out fine for me, also getting to lvl 20 doesn't mean the end of the game, by far.

As for Guilds, true there are a lot, I have a guild of my own, which only consists out of me and 2 people I know so far and I'll personaly pick new members because I want to know what kind of members are in my guild. guild capes are pretty cheap, though if you'd want to edit them might be a smaller fee, but later on 2000 is like nothing anymore.
the sigils.. well seeing how I have a guild consisting out of 3 players 50K would be quite a lot of saving up.. and winning it is out of the question but then again who needs a guild hall if you only have 3 players..

This is really the worst part of trying to play with people, and it is the players who have caused this grief. I was in a super lame guild that expected everyone to use TS/Vent. They couldn't give two shits about anyone who wasn't using it. I don't want to listen to people talk when I can read much faster, nor do I want to listen to people mumble into the mic. What about deaf/mute players? A few years back, a guy in my Starcraft guild was deaf. Plus, could you imagine how well people would cope with having a *real* girl on their team? No thanks.

You can't even get a tombs group anymore without TS/Vent. I got kicked out of a group for Underworld because I didn't have TS, when it was the leader invited *me* right after I broadcasted my distaste for voice chat. The game has excellent features that allow communication with your team without forcing you to type at all. The player enforced requirement of TS/Vent is just stupid.

And people wonder why I'd rather play with hechmen than real people.

I think GW is great, flawed? alittle maybe but not near as bad as you made it out to be.

community ~ My biggest problem with the community is trade spam on the local chat, turning trade off dosen't help a whole lot and I shouldn't have to put mass people on ignore. As for people flaming me or calling me a "noob" I'll avoid him, if it's a mission I'll tell him to stop if he dosen't I'll leave, this dosen't happen much,no big deal really.

difficulty ~ the game is fine as it is,I don't want it to be like Diablo, lol. It can be annoying if you want to get somewhere and get agro (I take sprint and charge) but that's rushing. Ascending was fun Imo.

monks ~ lots of games make you need healers, and I agree with respecting them (don't want to upset the person responsable for keeping me alive). Biggest prob is random arena, when your team has no monk and you end up fighting a team with 2 monks or something.

grind ~ I played necro and mesmer both to 20,at first I was eager to get my level and grinded for it (ginding dosen't bother me). 2nd time I didn't grind at all and got lv20 off missions, the only place where I seemed slighty underleveled were the ascending missions (was lfg as lv17 for abit) wasn't a big deal. If you want a game with grinding try FFXI, FFXI basicly forced you to be in a party,GW you can get henches and FFXI forced you to play certain secondary classes,GW I can play what I want.

It makes me wonder why you even play MMORPG's. Have you ever played Final Fantasy? Do you know how long it takes you to level up in any of those games? You can reach level 20 and ascend in a day if you wanted. It takes you weeks or even months of grinding(and I mean grinding) to reach level 20 in WoW, FF11, or any other online RPG, and you still have 80 more levels to go!! Seriously, you buy an RPG and expect it to be a single-player platform game where you beat it in as little time as possible. This is not the point. It's a relative term-grind free. Relative to all other MMO's, this game is a bolt of lightning. the community is only there if you want it to be. If you don't want to group with kiddies, then don't. Leave the mission, say you're sorry but you want to take your game seriously, and make sure your new group is a serious group. Get into a guild that takes their game seriously. Hell, make a PvP character, join a PvP guild, and do it. It seems that's what you want anyway.

And I have a monk. She's a good little monk. She does her job well. And she has just as hard a time finding a group for a mission as my warrior/monk and my elem/necro. I thought once about charging for my monk's services, but then I came to my senses and found out that it was a stupid thing to do. It would however possibly start a revolution among monks everywhere, and maybe to nerf it Anet would recode Alesia to make her a bit more effective in a fight. Why pay for a player monk when there's a henchman sitting right there? Well, the major reason would be that I actually heal people, on a regular basis. I don't wait for you to get to half health to start healing, because by then you could have been hit with 1-2 criticals and be on your way to Grenth. I heal when you're down to 1/4, and I prefer to keep everyone on my team to 100% at all times, just because it actually saves me energy in the long run.

I will say this if you dont like teamwork your not going to like this game you have to get along with people and be smart about dealing with them to make this game go smoothly. You are at minimum required to team with henchmen to do anything its just part of the game they could add solo areas that were easier i guess but thats not what this game is about.

mabye you should join a guild your feeling left out and your attitude stinks it probably makes the whole experience 10x worse. None of the things you brought up bother me grind is meh almost non existant, groups are smart enough if your civil to them. Balance is better than any other RPG and its really good some minor bugs with balthazars aura made it off a bit but its fixed. You complain about it being to dificult lol its a game if it was easy you would get bored you have to think to solve problems not mindlessly walk into hazards who said you needed to fight everything.

Its to bad my post is so far into this that its probably off topic now ah well.

I agree with the OP on pretty much everything. Only disagreement would be with the Too Difficult part. I find Guild Wars to be braindead easy 95% of the time, then very hard in the last 5%. There's no middle ground. GW is too much of a boring time sink in PVE, and PVP is repetitive thanks to a limited selection of maps.

Still, GW is a very unique game and I'm glad I bought it. I just think it has severe flaws that keep the game from achieving "masterpiece" status. Still a good game and probably the best PC gaming has seen in quite some time. But that's not necessarily saying alot...

Now there is a good Post,I hope someone with some kinda power in GW reads this one, sounds like a great idea. As for the topic starter....Dude,go play EQ and WoW and come back here bitching about Grinding and charachters being un balanced on guild Wars. that post left me with the distinct impression you don't know what your talking about.Seriously lol grinding? you don't know grinding till you have spent a MONTH trying to hit that next lvl...so you can have your 5 new spells or new ability. As for the comments on the whole Community thing,it really isn't that bad,Go check out the people you would be playing DDO (dungeons and Dragons Online) with at thier forums.I was seriously gonna play that game till i met a few of the folks in the forums who were gonna play. Now THEY are rude.

There are definitely some things that annoy me about this game.

However.. I've had some AMAZING RPG discussions with people, discussed politics maturely.. and had other meaningful conversations. Missions are hard, it took me a good 8-9 tries to ascend (also an elem) but that is what I LIKE about this game.. it is difficult.

Most other games I play are just too ridiculously easy.. they aren't any fun and you just run around mindlessly collecting weapons/gold or whatever. I find that in this game the fact that it's difficult makes me want to play it more. I try to help people through the impossible ascension missions and shudder at the shiverpeak missions, just glad that they are over.

I find the best thing to do is to only play with people you know ^^; That may be really ridiculous and sad. However, this IS the internet. People are stupidly immature at the best of times.

If they're annoying you THAT much.. just turn off the chats while you're questing and ignore them.

Trading is painful lately. I'm so annoyed with everyone and their outrageous pricing. Forget it.. :/

Overall..? I dunno I'm really happy with this game and I'd have to disagree with you. AS a former diablo 2 player I was really hurting for something like this to come out, that I didn't have to pay for. I'm a uni student and exceedinly poor. So it's nice to play something for little money. If that means all that garbage comes along with it, well.. sorry to say but I'm sort of used to it ^^;;

Bleh, sorry you're having a crappy time. Just don't take it seriously.. the game can be frustrating at times but I dunno. Find the right group and it works out ok right?

Ok, this game has a few hiccups, and there are two camps here.

Those that do like playing as is and are happy with the updates that are coming and continue to play for the enjoyment and the nice people they have met, both while questing and in there Guild.

Then there are those that bitch and moan about everything about every game they have ever played. Now this isn't to say this is the case at all, and may just be a select view and is only my opinion, but i sometimes find they have nothing else in there lives for enjoyment and just get frustrated and we hear all about it.

As for me, yes, i have my ups and downs with GW. I also have a few gripes with certain aspects of the game. But you know what, i go off and do other things, play other games, or go and do something in real life. I then come back to this for a bit of fresh air and it's not so bad. I actually start to enjoy it again.

I for one, can't just sit at my PC all day long and play games, as i work on my PC too. I need the break and getting away from GW with all the bitching and whining that goes on, is great.

So, if you don't like it, we don't want to hear about it. We all have our challenges in this world and GW is a way for us to get away and have some fun, for those that enjoy doing it in this manner.

I have 2 characters and i enjoy helping new players to get through quests and missions i have done ample times. Ok, don't always get a thank you or anything, but there are sometimes that this does happen, and that gives you a fuzzy.

Anyway, i'm out of here for something fun as I can't stand anymore bitching and whining.

They aren't the ones being assholes, he is.

This is the kind of person who breaks out in tears when he fails a mission I can tell.

Then he comes on here to spam about how the missions are too hard and people are mean to him.

Oh no!

Then he randomly insults people who played d2, a great game, for 4 years?

I've had 2 maybe 3 problems with people, it's not them it's you.

If you have people doing this to you everyday maybe you should just stop chatting, I bet if you went a whole day without typing none of this would happen to you.

You bring it upon yourself by being an asshole, change, get over it, or my favorite LEAVE.

You know, the original poster was expressing his opinion of the game, which people may or may not agree with, while YOU are making very personal insults rather than actually disagreeing in any intelligent way with his thoughts.

There is no way to prove who wrote the IM exchange, but in this forum it clearly isn't the original poster doing the name-calling, it is you. All I can see is that you are calling him "asshole" and accusing him of "crying when he fails a mission" and so on. Lame.

Your response to his post says far, far more about YOU than it does about him. Bummer for you.

the thing is THIS IS THE PLACE TO WIHNE ABOUT IT. im sorry, wait, no im not, if you have a problem with the game, the segestion forum is the place to do it, if reading these makes your opinnion of the game any less ( i must admit that some times its a bummer for me ) then go to the chat forum, but this is the forum to gripe about the game.

I'd have to agree with a lot of your points.

"Worst Community Ever"

I've seen worse... but not by a whole lot. The only reason I can stand some of the missions is cause me and my friend team up with the henchmen and do them by ourselves. Even more annoying, and more common, than the griefers are idiots. And yes, there are a lot of idiots. I have a smiting monk, and every time I join a party, knowing that everyone will think I'm a healer cause of my primary monk profession, I say "I'm a smiter", usually more than once. It is usually followed by one of two things: 1) Me being immediatly booted from the party followed by "Smiters SUCK!" (smiters > you), 2) Entering the mission without getting a healer, and then getting "I'm not getting healed! wtf?! Is anyone getting healed?!" and then I have to 'camly' (about as calmly as anyone can in this situation) explain to them that I'm a smiter and that I told them 50 times beforehand. Also, finding a party at any of the three ascension trials is usually impossible for me... Why? Cause i'm usually no more than level 15 by the time I get there. Then I get moans things saying that I suck, when, in fact, it means I'm better cause high level indicates that you failed previous missions a lot.

"grind wars"

mm hmm... not hard to fix either. remove:
-Skill Points
-Elite Capture System
and make the actual game easier to get through, rather than the mindless BS beforehand.
by the way, want to get to the ascension trials easily? make friends with a skilled ranger.

Well, thank you to all those who make decent replies (Unlike the person who started trolling this thread with the fake chatlogs.) but there are tons of things wrong with this game. You may say that this game doesn't have as much grind compared to other MMORPGs, but I'm not trying to compare it to any others. Simply put this game DOES have much grind. I myself, and many others do find it hard. This game is unnecessarily difficult, just to waste your time, and make you feel that you are getting your value.

For example, EVERY damn quest forces you to travel somewhere VERY FAR from town. You can either A. Spend an hour for every quest, fighting all the way, or running to the location. Most quests are either "Talk to this guy" or "bring me this" or "kill this guy". See a pattern here? Yes, it's all the same, walk to some place, and then click on something, go back for your reward. Just in this game, everything is very far away. Last night I was trying to find another town, surrounded by a horde of monsters. It would have taken me alteast an hour to fight them, and since I'm already lvl 20 I don't get rewarded for it. Things like infusion runs.. the game forces you to run through a huge lvl 5 times to infuse your armor or you can't proceed the game. Name me another RPG where the game makes a plot hole and forces you to repeat a mission 5 times to get all of your armor infused. And don't give me that "Oh you can beat it without infusion" crap.

I think I have to agree with you on the problem with the over importence of monks. It just doesn't seem right that some bosses can litteraly stay alive forever with a team of 8 wailing on them with 4 healing spells. Likewise in pvp situations a team sans monk is at a huge disadvantage regardless of skill or build. Please don't take this as me attacking monks, it's just that I think healing needs to be toned down a bit all across the board. Make characters stronger, give them better defense, or perhaps have other classes have res abilites, not on the same line as monks of course.

Just do something so that teams that can't get a monk, or are unable to find one aren't instantily screwed.
